Job Description – Field Technician


The Field Technician at DirtMarket primarily functions in the field to check-in and count soil delivery trucks at our project sites and to assist with the tabulation of those reports.  In addition, the Field Technician assists the Project Technician with soil sampling activities and USA sampling area delineation on project sites.  The Field Technician will be called upon by various members of the DirtMarket team to deliver paperwork, supplies, samples, manifests, and obtain signatures throughout the bay area.  Finally, the Field Technician will at time assist staff with SWPPP inspections and storm water sampling on project sites under the oversight of a QSP.


Field Technician Job Duties Include:


The Field Technician

  • Load Counter check in and load counting at our project sites.
  • Collection of load count sheets from projects sites.
  • Assisting Project Technician with review of load count sheets and verification.
  • Truck bossing (Observing trucks and contacting trucking companies)
  • Delivering shade canopies, water, HCSS loadbots and beacons, phones, portable toilet trailers, etc.
  • Delineating subsurface sampling areas for USA utility marking.
  • Assisting the Project Technician with contacting USA member utilities for verbal or electronic positive response or review in the field before sampling crew mobilization for member markings.
  • Assisting the Project Technician with taking environmental and soil property samples.
  • Assisting the Project Tech with handheld GPS points of sample locations.
  • Assisting the Project Technician with sampling supply orders and stocking at our main office.
  • Assisting SWPPP inspectors with inspections and storm water sampling on project sites.
  • Delivering samples to laboratories for testing.
  • Delivering soil manifests for signature.
  • Delivering bucket samples.
Education & Minimum Requirments:

Background and Education:

The ideal candidate would have the following skills and background

  • Have good basic math skills
  • Have basic writing skills
  • Have basic Excel  skills
